This will be another practical/action group which will identify and actively engage with local issues of concern in terms of environment, nature and biodiversity.
Rewilding: this is an invitation to be involved in the re-wilding of parts of the farm and extend the activity to other locations. There will be opportunities for tree planting, pond digging, fencing off areas for protection from human interference, and creation of micro-habitats for insects, amphibians, birds and bats.
River care: this is a specific project to support the wildlife of the Colebrooke river which runs along the whole southern edge of the farm. It will include removal of rubbish and other foreign objects, ongoing monitoring of water quality, management of riverside trees and bushes, and reducing erosion of banks. The work will raise awareness of the part that rivers play in the local ecosystem. It will also be an opportunity to learn about the diversity of species that live in the river ecosystem. The project will be sustained by a core group but will also be open to participation by local schools.
